I know this man, but he is not my pastor… I know this man formerly, but we are different. We have gone our separate ways. We have moved away… I know this man very long time ago… I can’t remember how many years ago… I can’t remember that. But never mind… It seems there is some controversy surrounding this man. And formerly we were with him, so it’s difficult to clear up.

Zephaniah Soh is the most senior of all Elijah Thomas Chacko’s representatives and has been tasked with conveying Elijah’s teachings throughout South (and Central) America. Zephaniah Soh was interviewed several days ago by a Mexican Reformed pastor. He was not aware he was being recorded. Above are some quotations direct from Zephaniah. They are not quoted out of context, for Zephaniah was being specifically questioned about his relationship to The Westminster Tradition and Elijah Thomas (Chacko). He denies any affiliation with Elijah Chacko. It was in response to the question: “How long ago did you stop working with this man?” that he answered, “I know this man very long time ago.” Whatever his slippery, Jesuitic justification might be, we can at least say that he wants the pastor interviewing him to believe that he is not teaching Elijah Chacko’s doctrines. The prayer bulletin dated 5th April AD 2019 (not so ‘very long time ago’) tells another story.

The Westminster Tradition believes itself to be utterly antagonistic to Romanism and especially the Jesuit order who have historically spearheaded the Counter-Reformation. Yet the sad truth is that Elijah Chacko and his disciples have, in some respects, become Jesuitic. There are many parallels. Elijah Chacko is to them as Ignatius Loyola was to the Jesuits. I quote from James Wylie (1808-1890) in his book ‘The History Of Protestantism’, concerning the Jesuit order:

‘They might exhibit as many shapes as Proteus, and exhibit as many colours as the chameleon. They stood apart and alone among the human race. First of all, they were cut off from country. Their vow bound them to go to whatever land their General might send them, and to remain there as long as he might appoint. Their country was the society. They were cut off from family and friends. Their vow taught them to forget their father’s house… They were cut off, moreover, from the State. They were discharged from all civil and national relationships and duties. They were under a higher code than the national one… they were the subjects of a higher monarch than the sovereign of the nation – their own General.’

One practice which made them so difficult to detect was that of ‘mental reservation‘. Essentially it taught them how to justify a lie. Zephaniah no doubt operated on such a premise. Although he wrote to his pastor Elijah Chacko on 7th June 2018, affirming that his specific mission was to assist his pastor to ‘restore all things’, now he claims to have moved away from his pastor. To Zephaniah it is a necessary lie. Since this website was set up, it has been much easier for prudent men such as this pastor in Mexico to conduct research on The Westminster Tradition and Elijah Thomas Chacko – even on Zephaniah Soh himself. The circumstances have changed, hence rather than constantly giving deference to Elijah Chacko, Zephaniah now denies him. After all, Zephaniah did go his separate way: Elijah sent him off from Teaneck, New Jersey. He did know Elijah a very long time ago: he’s known him (and followed him) for over 30 years. Ultimately, to Zephaniah, the end justifies the means. In this case, it was necessary to deceive. But we may be thankful that we serve a God Who has been pleased, by His providence and according to His own timing, to bring to light the hidden things of darkness (1 Cor 4:5).

Of course, those within The Westminster Tradition will indignantly attempt to justify themselves from Scripture. Did not Rahab lie about the whereabouts of the spies? Was this not her faith? Did not David lie to the Philistine king, Achish? Did not godly Micaiah lie to Ahab? But even if they should win their point and prove that under extenuating circumstances there are occasions when the God-fearing have lied, is this situation akin to theirs? I defy anybody within The Westminster Tradition to write in and justify such a position. And if they do, I hope they have the courage to use their real names.

Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; but have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.’ (2 Cor 4:2)

In case any should question my own previous affiliation with The Westminster Tradition (serving as a missionary to India, Philippines, Nepal and Europe), I attach the above photo. It was taken in India on 28th April 2013. Zephaniah was assigned to South America in 2017. Zephaniah Soh is pictured at the centre and Zechariah Tan is on the left of the photo. I (‘the evil man‘ mentioned in the prayer petition) am on the right. I have previously renounced all affiliation with The Westminster Tradition and can only continue to beg the forgiveness of those I have formerly deceived.
